sturgis-rallyAmerican Iron Magazine is partnering up with Motorcycle Rides & Culture and Indian Motorcycle for an all-brands motorcycle ride from Anamosa, IA to Sturgis, SD.
This all-brands motorcycle ride is free and open to all riders of all makes, models and years of motorcycles. American Iron Magazine publisher Buzz Kanter plans to ride out on his 1947 flathead Indian Chief that he has owned and ridden for more than 20 years. The crew from American Iron Magazine will have a support/chase vehicle with spare gasoline, ramps and tie-downs “just in case” but we hope not to need it.
FREE WELCOME RECEPTION. The National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, IA is hosting a free reception dinner and admission to the museum for all riders the afternoon and evening of Thursday, July 30.
This ride was created to celebrate the 75th Sturgis Black Hills Rally that started out as an Indian event. To honor those Indian motorcycle enthusiasts who started this event we ask for riders of all-year Indian motorcycles to lead our ride, and riders of other brands to follow. Riders are encouraged to ride as long or as little as they wish. Some will ride with us the entire way to Sturgis, others for an hour or two. And all are welcome.
DAY ONE. All riders depart at 9 am from the National Motorcycle Museum. The ride will cover about 290 backroad miles (mostly on Rt 18 West). We end the day in Spencer, IA and encourage all riders to make hotel reservations as soon as possible.
DAY TWO. We leave from Spencer, IA at 9 am and ride roughly 270 back road miles to Winner, SD. This town has the most hotel rooms in the area, but many of the hotels and motels there are already sold out to other Sturgis-bound riders. So please make your sleeping arrangements ASAP.
DAY THREE. We leave from Winner, SD at 8:30 am and ride about 315 backroad miles into Sturgis, SD and end with a welcome reception and party at the Indian of Sturgis dealership in downtown Sturgis around 3:30 to 4:30 pm. We plan to meet up there with the riders from the Ross “Kiwi Indian” Tomas Memorial ride coming in from Riverside, CA.
